A strikingly colored emerald green cat seen around town in the Black Sea resort community of Varna, in Bulgaria, has been resolved, with an explanation that rules out intentional abuse of the cat.
Thinking that vandals had painted the cat, a neighborhood stray, locals set up a ‘Punishment to the the perpetrator of this criminal act’ Facebook page and tried to find those responsible for it.
The cause of the cat’s coloration has been found and has been determined to be an accidental consequence of the cat’s habits and travels.
Rex Media reported on the story, writing that the cat was discovered to be sleeping on “an abandoned heap of synthetic green paint in a garage.”
We don’t know whether the cat’s advocates will see to it that he will be prevented from getting into the paint again, or that they can have the paint heap removed. Hopefully, their sense of purpose will lead to changes to keep this kitty, and others, safe from the potentially toxic exposure to the coloring agent.
The cat is seen in the video below hanging around with his friend, a normal looking ginger kitty.
