Thanks to tireless ongoing efforts, two more cats displaced in the May 20, 2013 Moore, OK tornado were reunited with their grateful families this week.
Safe Haven Animal Rescue, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, shared two happy occasions yesterday that occurred this week, as two cats lost in the devastating F5 tornado of May 20 were reunited with their families.
The two happy reunions have encouraged rescuers to continue in their efforts for displaced tornado pets.
“This is Opolis and his parents. Opolis went missing after an EF5 tornado destroyed his home on May 20, 2013. His parents didn’t give up hope looking for him and neither did our tireless volunteers, who have spent the better part of the last month feeding and trapping displaced cats in demolished neighborhoods. Luckily for Opolis, he fared pretty well in the last 5 1/2 weeks and has mainly only lost some weight and some fur.
The joy in this photo is why we do what we do. Just like in the Starfish Story, we may not make a difference for everyone but we “made a difference for that one!” Congratulations Opolis!”
“Meet Ashley. She was trapped in tornado ravaged Moore, OK Wednesday night by a fabulous volunteer who is one of a few who has been spending most nights for the last month feeding, tracking and trapping cats left behind in the devastated neighborhoods. Tonight, 5 1/2 weeks after her home was destroyed Ashley has been reunited with her family. Don’t give up. Hope is out there! Congratulations Ashley on finding your people again!”
