Fire and Rescue NSW, serving the New South Wales province of Australia, shared the story of a kitten rescue on Wednesday, writing:
Lakemba firefighters saved the day when called to rescue a small kitten trapped inside the front wheel arch of a car in Lakemba. New recruit firefighter, “Rory”, has a background in car repairs. He quickly had a fender cover removed from the vehicle and the kitten was safely released to freedom.
Watch the aftermath as a grateful moggy laps up a refreshing treat. Well done Rory and the rest of Lakemba crew!
Note: Animal rescues like this provide an excellent training opportunity for our firefighters to hone the skills needed to rescue people in car accidents that happen every day across our state.
A brief story at Sky News states that the kitten climbed up into the car somewhere between Perth and Sydney, which suggests that the kitten may possibly have ridden tucked up over the wheel for thousands of miles. Firefighters handed the baby over to the RSPCA for care and rehoming.
