Six kittens who had been placed in a backpack were found in an alley in Edmonton, AB Canada on Tuesday, July 31 and are now in the care of the Edmonton Humane Society. Luckily, one kitten got out and drew the attention of a neighborhood Pomeranian whose family was alerted to the kitten by the dog’s refusal to come when called. A search turned up the rest of the kittens in the backpack in the alley. They were saved in time, before any damage was done.
An Edmonton Humane Society spokeswoman tells the kittens’ story, in a report from August 3 that continues to discuss the greater issue of owner responsibility. As can be seen in the map that is briefly shown, the kittens were abandoned near the Humane Society and could have been taken there.
Here is more footage of the kittens, charmingly at play in a video session made with them sitting in the backpack.
