Snowbell Returns Home After 3 Years Thanks to Luck and a Microchip

Snowbell wandered off from his Citrus, FL home and was not seen again by those who knew him until he turned up recently in a neighboring county.

John and Maggie Hypes looked for Snowbell for several months after he want missing three years ago  but finally gave up, thinking he was gone forever.  Things changed when Hernando County Animal Control contacted the Hypes’ recently to say Snowbell had been trapped by a county resident and brought to the shelter, where a microchip scan revealed his identity. The Hypes’ say Snowbell, though somewhat the worse for wear, has taken up his old life again without skipping a beat._

UPDATE 2/21: We reported Snowbell’s story as a happy homecoming and are sorry to report that he is now deceased. Snowbell visited the vet three times after his return home. Test results yesterday confirmed that Snowbell suffered from severe kidney failure. His family and the vet made the decision to let him go, and he has passed away. RIP Snowbell.
