Zamboni the Special Kitten
Zamboni is a special needs kitty born with a back leg sticking out the wrong way. Long Beach Felines has lovingly cared for him as he has grown big and strong enough to have life changing surgery.
Zamboni came to Long Beach Felines, of Long Beach, California, as a tiny 5 week old kitten, along with his mother Catrina. Catrina took good car of her boy; Zamboni, though born with special needs and deformities, was happy, healthy, and spunky.
According to his caregivers:
“Zamboni has been patiently waiting and growing up so he can have his backwards back leg removed. His right back leg is backwards; it doesn’t bend at all & sticks straight out most of the time. He’s learned how to move so that the leg doesn’t get caught up. His left back leg is also deformed, but he has partial use of it and uses it like a tripod for balance.
His compensation has given him large muscular shoulders and a very handsome physique. One of his favorite things is having someone rub his ears, cheeks and chin – something he can’t ever do for himself.
After his recovery from surgery, we will look for a forever home for him. It will need to be a special person who can accept his accidents. He tries very hard to get to the litter box, but there are times that he dribbles on his way there. He doesn’t like to do that and stops to try to clean it up.”
The rescue has mounted a successful ChipIn on Zamboni’s behalf, to pay for his surgery. In less than a week it has already surpassed its modest goal.
Thanks to a dedicated group of rescuers, Zamboni has been well cared for in his kittenhood and will get the chance to lead a good life with a caring family after his surgery.

What a sweet looking boy!
God Bless Zamboni- he is adorable….I pray his life turns out to be wonderful!
OMG….what a Beautiful boy. He would fit in purrfectly with my other Special Needs felines…particularly my Maddie who was born with both of her rear legs on backwards and reversed. Oh, pure white with blue eyes so also deaf. Zamboni will grow up to be just fine….I wish I lived closer because I would rush there to adopt him. God bless you, little guy.
