NC Man Gives His Life Trying To Save a Cat in Distress
Roy Haddock was known for his efforts helping cats and other animals. His final act in life, yesterday, was to try to help a cat who he believed to be in distress. An accidental drowning is believed to have claimed his life.
69 year old Roy Haddock was a surveyor and an experienced woodsman from Fayetteville, North Carolina who lost his life on a mission to help a fellow creature in need on a riverbank of the Lower Little River in Cumberland County. The last time he was seen alive by his loved ones, on Monday morning, he told his wife he was going to help a cat there who was in distress. He had seen a stray Maine Coon cat in the area and planned to feed it and, possibly, to rescue it and bring it home. Once on the scene, he called his wife to say the effort was going to be a bit more difficult than he had originally thought. That is the last anyone heard from him. A relative found his pickup truck later in the day, parked with the flashers going. After an all out search begun yesterday, his body was found today. It is believed he slipped on the hillside and slid into the water and drowned.

If I had to die it would be in the course of saving an animal. I have saved dogs and cats and when you try to approach a stray a lot of times they are so scared and it can become difficult.
I too am an animal lover,rescurer,and cat owner.they are like my children to me..strictly indoor cats of course.they r smart,trained warm fed loved spoiled the whole 9 yards.and i wouldn’t have it any other way..they are by far the loves of my life and i could never let them go….RIP Roy Haddock what a beautiful soul you have..thank you for loving our furry 4 legged friends..

I found this website, and I just wanted to say everyones comments have just warmed our heart and we want to thank you for your kind words. Seeing that you guys love animals just as much as my family does, I thought i’d inform you about what we chose to do in honor of my granddaddy.
