Pikachu, the four month old Traveling Kitty and companion to Ted Brady has been found, two weeks after going missing during a stopover in Albuquerque NM as the pair made a cross country bicycling trip for the adventure and to raise awareness and support for humane societies and animal shelters. He was found not far from the spot where Ted and the search team thought he had gone missing as Ted pedaled his bike and Pika rode behind in his special chariot. He was not wearing his harness and leash when found. and was also dirty and thin. Pika had gone from 7 1/2 pounds down to 5 pounds in two weeks spent lost and on his own.
A Team Find Pikachu member received a phone call this morning from a woman who had found a cat fitting Pikachu’s description. Two team members visited the woman and the cat, then consulted with other search team members, and all felt they had found the missing cat. A microchip scan at the vet confirmed their feeling with a positive identification of the little cat as Pikachu.
Pika was given a full bloodwork panel, xrays, stool culture, physical exam and a grooming. The vet reportedly thinks that despite being thin and dirty, he will remake a good recovery. Meanwhile, Pika will live with a foster family in Albuquerque for 30 days and will be re-evaluated at that time. He is under doctor’s orders to stay put and give up the traveling life for now, at least. Pikachu is to receive rest, quiet, nourishment and a stable environment as he recovers from his ordeal.
There have been no public comment from Ted Brady today. We will follow up if there is any more news forthcoming.
