Sweet Sisters Saved From the Streets

Bella and Pom Pom were saved from life on the streets and blossomed into sweet, happy house cats. Bella had reconstructive surgery for a facial disfigurement but she will always look different. The sisters are ready for a loving forever home.

Young sisters Bella and Pom Pom were rescued last January from a harsh existence on the streets of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY.

They were picked up as part of a TNR program, and that is where their lives changed drastically for the better. Little Bella had sustained some sort of injury which caused considerable disfigurement to her face, and those who picked her up could not just turn her back out to the street. The girls were taken into foster care, spayed, tested and found to be in good health, and Bella had several surgeries to fix her face. While Bella’s face remains disfigured she is otherwise normal and healthy and she has a winning personality.

The girls  have thrived in foster care with Laura MacLean and then Bekah Wilcox but Bekah needs to find them a forever home . The two girls need to be adopted together by someone who will love little Bella all the more for her special face, and not any the less. Bekah tells us that the girls are absolutely wonderful kitties, and they are completely ready for a loving forever home, so all they need now is that very special person who will share their love, their life and their home with the somewhat less than one year old black beauties.

Bekah tells us a little bit about the girls are their journey;

Meet Bella and her sister Pom Pom. They were rescued as part of a Trap-Neuter-Return project in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, in January 2011. They’ve been in my foster care since early March and are doing fabulous. Bella has had a grand total of 8 surgeries and spent almost as much time in boarding at the vet as in my home, but she is finally done with surgery and ready for a home! She’s an amazing kitten who overcomes every obstacle she encounters with a positive attitude and a smile. OK, maybe that smile is not intentional but she is charming nonetheless!

Cutie Pie Bella after 6 of her 8 surgeries

Bella is a kitten with a ton of personality — she loves to “talk” and greets you with a “Hello” chirp when you come home, wake up, or otherwise enter her world. The conversation continues until she is appeased with some head scratching and possibly a belly rub. This snuggler inches herself into any comfortable position on you while drowning out your protests with a deafening purr.

Bella had been living on the street with a serious injury to her face for nearly a month when she and Pom Pom were trapped on January 29, 2011. Bella is missing the upper lip, most teeth, and part of the lower eyelid on the left side of her face. Multiple surgeries have stabilized the injury and she should lead a perfectly normal life!

Pretty Pom Pom

Pom Pom’s elegance is the perfect complement to Bella’s irresistible quirkiness. Her exotic looks and graceful movements lend her a regal quality that is nothing short of mesmerizing. While she cannot compete with Bella’s level of affection, Pom Pom is nonetheless a purring machine who enjoys attention in a more reserved manner.

These girls are full of boundless kitten energy and love to play — with each other, with people or with toys. They provide endless entertainment for themselves and those who watch or interact with them during playtime!

Meet Bella and her sister Pom Pom. They were rescued as part of a Trap-Neuter-Return project in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, in January 2011.

Pom Pom’s enchanting good looks coupled with Bella’s humorous charm make this dynamic duo the perfect addition to any family! But what makes them in need of an extra special home is Bella’s disfigurement. She needs someone to embrace her goofiness just like she has!

Bella is missing the upper lip, most teeth, and part of the lower eyelid on the left side of her face. Multiple surgeries have stabilized the injury and she should lead a perfectly normal life!

Bella and Pom Pom are currently in my foster care. While they are loved unconditionally, their time has come to find their forever home — together. An adoption application, home visit and fee are required. Please contact Bekah Wilcox via Facebook or send an email to [email protected] for more information on making these incredible kittens a part of your life!

If you would like to help, please share or otherwise network to help these dear girls find their forever home.  If a Life With Cats reader adopts the sisters or helps them find their home we’d love to hear about it.

It`s so sad for me to see little bella with her damaging and also fantastic that she found so gentle people wich helped her so much. I always asked me why people take not more care when there are animals on the streets. They also would do it when there are some children ore other people. Animals are allways innocent and never do something wrong. It`s only the human which can be like a devel – but the most are kind. And that gives me hope. Hope for the future.

What sweet, beautiful little black cats. I’m so glad they were rescued and are now safe, and well, and loved. I wish them a loving home together and cosy beds for the rest of their days. I would ask to have them myself, but just not possible, I’m too far away. So please, someone special who will give these two little ones the special loving home they deserve..come along soon. x

I have a cat that had a facial injury. Not quite as bad as Bella’s but her jaw will never be right, one tooth sticks out and her one eye squints. She is one of the friendliest and most loving of my bunch. Seeing all these special needs cats makes me wish I didn’t already have an overfull house!

I’m glad those two little sisters are doing well and are together! I hope they find a forever home that keeps them together. they’ve been through so much trauma it would be ashame to seperate those little girls. Bella is beautiful despite her injury. Those surgeries are tough but she remains sweet and adorable dispite it all. <3

If there’s a way to get them to India, I’d be more than happy to. Such adorable kittens, especially Bella who is so beautiful. Her courage after such trauma is admirable.

Bekah ~ you’ve done these two little ones proud, thank you and well done. I have a house full of rescue cats here in the UK..I take the old, sick, injured, and mistreated ones. One of my little ferals even has her own room, where she lives very happily and tells me she never wants to go out ever again..she did that when she was a kitten and didn’t like it much! x

Linda-Beth that sounds wonderful, if only all the needy cats were so lucky to have someone like you! We do what we can though, right? :)

Bekah – thank you. It warms my heart to know there are many, many people doing what then can around the World. I wish it were possible to save every little one in need of love, care, food, shelter..but if we all do a little, it adds up to a lot, and each one saved makes a difference. I gather my little rescued ones together sometimes and we send out thoughts to all those not so lucky. Thank you for what you’re doing for these two little darlings..and probably many more..please give them a chin-scritch from me! xx
